Celts' Profile: Meet Brendan Vipond

A few short games into the 2016 season, Brendan Vipond was still unsure whether he would lace up his runners for the summer or not. With some graduates from the program moving on, adversity reared up and struck the Celtics' squad swiftly. Vipond answered the bell to fill an important defensive veteran role and was welcomed back to the roster with open arms.

In 2016, Vipond posted 5 assists in transition, along with winning a staggering 70% of his face off attempts, taking a whopping 95% of the teams face offs per game. Vipond's 58 regular season penalty minutes stands as the second most, only behind Hunter Drew.

Down the playoff stretch of the regular season and within the first round versus Huntsville, Vipond showed his importance to the team in many ways, including through a huge game 1 goal and an assist and 8 penalty minutes in 2 playoff games played.

A construction worker by trade, their aren't too many opponents in the Junior C loop that would dare try mess around with the 6'2, 245 lbs defender. Vipond has become a mainstay on the man down unit and a terrific leader in the dressing room with signature contagious positivism.
